Indicative estimate. Assumptions: all profit after tax is distributed; profit tax at the indicative effective rate of the cantonal capital; AHV/AVS, disability and income compensation 10.6%, unemployment insurance 2.2% up to a salary of CHF 148'200, family allowances and admin costs estimated at 2%; dividend taxed at 70% (holding of at least 10%), as for federal tax, the cantonal share may differ; income tax based on the 2026 federal, cantonal and cantonal-capital tax scales, for a single person with no other income or deductions, excluding church tax. No pension fund (LPP), accident insurance or legal reserve.

The levers

Pay less tax, legally.

Nothing exotic: known rules, applied at the right time and documented so they hold up in a tax audit.

01

Depreciation

The rates accepted by the tax authorities set what you can deduct each year for your equipment. Used well, they reduce your taxable profit.

02

Provisions

A client who may not pay, a dispute, a warranty: a real, documented risk can be provisioned and deducted.

03

Salary or dividend

The right mix depends on your profit, your canton and your pension. A salary that’s too low can be corrected by the AHV/AVS compensation office.

04

Losses carried forward

A loss can be deducted from the profits of the next seven financial years. But it has to be carried into every tax return.

05

Timing of investments

Buying a machine in December or in January changes the year in which you start depreciating it.

06

Accurate instalments

Tax instalments set on your real profit avoid a big bill the following year, and the interest that comes with it.

FAQ

What people ask us about tax.

Your situation is a bit different? Just ask us directly, it’s the quickest way.

Talk to an expert
What does my company’s tax return include?

For a Sàrl (GmbH) or SA (AG): the return for profit tax and capital tax, with the annual financial statements and the appendices your canton asks for. For a sole proprietorship: the self-employed part of your tax return. We file it, then check the tax assessment you receive.

When should I think about tax?

Before year-end. Depreciation, provisions, the timing of investments and your pay are all decided before the financial year ends. After that, all you can do is observe.

Salary or dividend: which pays off more?

It depends on your profit, your canton, your tax rate and your retirement savings. A dividend avoids social security contributions and is only partly taxed if you hold at least 10% of the share capital, but it is paid out of profit that has already been taxed. A salary costs social security contributions, but it builds your pension and gives you access to the pension fund (LPP). And the AHV/AVS compensation office can reclassify part of the dividend as salary if your pay is too low.

How reliable is the simulator?

It’s an estimate: an indicative profit tax rate per canton, your income tax calculated with the 2026 federal, cantonal and cantonal-capital tax scales for a single person with no other income, and basic social security contributions. It does not take into account the pension fund (LPP), accident insurance, your municipality, your deductions or your family situation. Before you decide, we work out the exact figures with you.

What if my tax assessment is wrong?

We challenge it. For federal direct tax as for cantonal taxes, you have 30 days from notification of the assessment to file an objection. That’s why we check every assessment as soon as it arrives.

Are my losses from previous years lost?

No. A loss can be deducted from the profits of the next seven financial years. But it has to be carried correctly into every tax return: we track it from one year to the next.

What if I run a sole proprietorship?

Your profit is taxed together with your personal income and is subject to AHV/AVS contributions. The levers are the same: depreciation, provisions, timing of investments. The salary or dividend question doesn’t apply, but switching to a Sàrl (GmbH) might be worth it: we run the numbers with you.

How much does it cost?

Your company’s tax return is included in the Guided plan (from CHF 490 per month), the Advisory plan (from CHF 990 per month, with annual tax planning) and the Review plan (from CHF 390 per month). With Auto, the year-end closing and tax return are available as an option for CHF 200 per month. Prices excl. VAT.

Shall we talk?

Your tax, prepared in advance.

A first conversation, no commitment: we look at your situation and the levers to pull before your next year-end.
